For example, in most cases there are initial forms that are very simple to prepare. They may seem intimidating but they really only take time, not a great deal of effort to complete. Most law firms will quote you a fee for preparation of these forms at hefty hourly rates and never give you the option of involvement in the process of preparation. At MESA LAW, PA, we give you that option and that opportunity to minimize the potential fees and costs of your case from “day one”. Sometimes doing these time consuming - yet simple - tasks yourself not only saves you money, but provides you with an invaluable education about your case. Certainly, our services are available for the more complex legal aspects that are best handled by an attorney, but that will be decided WITH you. How much will this cost? After an initial consultation, and if you choose to retain our firm, family law cases are usually billed at $300 per hour. Remember, you can minimize your fees and costs in many parts of your case and by using us to handle only the complex legal matters. We can help you whether you only need one hour to get things started, want us to handle everything from start to finish, or somewhere in between. We believe each case can and should be customized to each client’s needs. Something else to consider is that many times when people hire a family lawyer, they are required to pay a large NONREFUNDABLE retainer up front. They are not confident that they will receive a value for what they prepaid. At MESA LAW, PA, you will never be billed for work unless it is actually performed on your case. Each task is itemized and clearly indicated on the periodic statement sent to you. You will never have to wonder how your money was spent at our firm. If we require you to pay an initial retainer, but there are funds remaining after your case is completed, your unused retainer balance will be refunded to you.
